Hotelier Jason Pomeranc of SIXTY Beverly Hills has teamed up with the renowned Umbrella Hospitality Group to introduce Ella,

a new neighborhood cafe, bar, rooftop & restaurant.

Located at the hotel’s street-level corner of Wilshire Blvd. and S. Crescent Drive, the highly-anticipated concept designed by Austin Melrose, will serve up a bold dinner menu created by Executive Chef Brian Min, with a variety of dishes that celebrate the Mediterranean, Asian and Italian flavors found in the city’s backyard. It will feature a thriving craft cocktail menu that pays homage to the history of Los Angeles and a nuanced selection of natural, organic, and traditional wines.

During the daytime, Ella offers morning delectables at the coffee bar open daily from 7am- 12pm. Evenings then transition into an energetic social restaurant with a mix of live DJ’s, jazz, and vinyl.

Walking into Ella, guests will feel a nostalgia for a place that they’ve been to but had forgotten to revisit. Pulling from the bistro cultures found in Europe and New York, while incorporating the backdrop of Los Angeles, the “Cali Bistro” will engender a sense of elegant comfort. The interior landscape is a plant lover’s dream while retro Hollywood photography reminds us of a time not too long ago when carefree was still a word in our vernacular. Relict musical instruments create an impromptu stage where, at any moment, someone could start jamming as if in their own living room. It is a place where you can literally watch the sun rise and set—grabbing a coffee in the morning and a nightcap at the end of the day. It is a space that simultaneously feels like home and an escape.

Executive Chef Brian Min brings his experience from Mama Shelter and Laurel Hardware to create a flavorful menu featuring a spectrum of shared starters to fresh side vegetables and salads, transitioning on to flavorful pastas, to large plates and specialty pizzas.

As for the artful cocktails, the Umbrella team beautifully showcase their expertise in liquid creativity, employing sonic bath aging, sous vide infusions, fat washing and milk punch clarification.  The beverage menu, crafted by the group, highlights local flavors while giving a new spin on classic cocktails guests will be in for quite a heart-stopping, soul-lifting ride.

Lastly, nestled within Ella is The Bottle Shop. Featuring natural, organic and biodynamic wines, that look just as good on the shelf as in the glass, line the shop. Locals can grab a bottle to bring home and hotel guests can take one up to their rooms. For those dining in, Ella offers their newest ‘social currency’ program, where diners who purchase a bottle have the option to waive the corkage fee when they gift a glass to a stranger in the restaurant. “Hospitality is at the heart of Umbrella Co. We hope that ethos translates into all who play with us.”

As an extension, the Umbrella Hospitality Group also takes on the newly reimagined rooftop cocktail lounge at SIXTY Beverly Hills as the Ella Rooftop for tasteful drinks, and reintroduces the luxurious cityscape rooftop pool.

Jason Pomeranc, owner of SIXTY Beverly Hills comments,“The goal and process in reimagining our spaces with the Umbrella Hospitality Group was to create a true home away from home. From grabbing a coffee, to a cozy setting for work or social play, to a delicious dinner with quality cocktails, to a happy hour with a scenic rooftop view, we want everyone to feel welcome to do it all… including staying the night. I think we truly found a magical formula that allows guests to experience a destination staycation. Between the Ella cafe, restaurant, and rooftop guests will be covered from the moment they wake up to when (and if) they go back to sleep.”
